Find answers to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We are only conducting BCAA Connect (online) classes at the moment due to the COVID-19 situation.
How long have you been in business? ​
The Barista & Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA), Inc., formerly known as The Philippine Barista & Coffee Academy (PBCA), Inc. was established in 2009. In April of 2015, PBCA was officially renamed as BCAA.
​Where are you located and what time are you open?
BCAA is located at Unit 1803 Atlanta Centre, 31 Annapolis Street Greenhills, San Juan City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
​The school is open Mondays to Fridays (9:30 AM-11:00 AM, 1:30 PM-5:00PM), Saturday (8:30 AM-11:00 AM) while it is closed on Sundays and holidays.
​Do we get a certificate after completing the course?
​​For Barista Foundation Courses (Barista 101, 102 & 103) certificate will be issued upon passing the evaluation on the last day of training. Likewise, all the courses offered by BCAA have corresponding certificates.
Is there a maximum number of students per class?
For its flagship and entrepreneurial courses, BCAA limits the class to a maximum of 8 students. This allows each student to get a more focused training.
Is parking available?
As the school building is unable to accommodate vehicles to park, students bringing their own vehicle are advised to park at the nearby Greenhills Shopping Center (300 meters away from Atlanta Center)
Is BCAA TESDA accredited?
Although BCAA did not apply for TESDA accreditation (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) its laboratories in Manila, Davao and Iloilo are internationally accredited through the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association).
Do you conduct classes outside of your Manila location?
BCAA conducts classes in Manila, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo and Baguio. For the locations, refer to this link.

Is there an age limit for the enrollees?
BCAA accepts students 18 years old and above. For those who are below 18 years old a parental consent form/letter must be submitted. On the other hand, BCAA offers Junior Barista Workshop program which is an exclusive program for kids (7-12 years old) and teens (13-17 years old). Do your programs include On-The-Job Trainings/Internships?
Courses offered by BCAA does not include On-the-Job Trainings/Internships.
Will I be able to get a job after completing the course?
Although completing a course at BCAA does not guarantee anyone a job, the certificate you will earn is well-recognized by the industry and may help in landing a career in coffee. The school also posts job advertisements on its information board everytime it receives a verified local/international job request. The school, however, does not aid in recruitment.
Do you offer free classes?
Once in a while, BCAA offers the Open School program which is free for everyone.
What course would you recommend to anyone who would like to be a barista but has little or has no background in coffee-making?
For those who don't have prior background in coffee, the school's flagship course, Barista 101 (Basic Barista Training), is highly recommended. For more details, you may refer to this link.
I want to open a Cafe, which course should I take?
For students who wish to open a café, the school's Cafe Management program is recommended. Kindly refer to this link for more details.
What should I bring to your class?
Students are advised to bring a notebook and pen and must submit 2 pieces of a 2x2 photo and a photocopy of birth certificate or any government issued ID. They must wear casual/business shirts, a pair of pants and closed-toe shoes. Due to the cold temperature inside the school, students may also bring jackets.
How do you pay for a class?
Program fees should be settled before the start of the class. A payment deadline is usually set after online/on-site program application.

Payments shall only be made after a telephone or email verification from a BCAA representative.

Confirmation of a slot follows upon receiving payment or the copy of the deposit slip on a first come, first served basis. 
Any discounts you offer?
BCAA gives 20% discount privilege to senior citizens and PWDs (Persons with Disability). Moreover, upon completion of any BCAA course a BCAA student will be entitled to an alumni discount of 5%.
